Linework #3

Max Morris graduated last May, so Kevin and I shared editing duties for this 3rd issue, which is now printed and about to come out any day now. Number 3 is a smaller (8" X 10") than the first two, and has a lot more pages (96). Kevin and I will be at Manifest, Columbia's big street fest, this Friday, May 4th, at the corner of Balbo and Wabash, selling all 3 issues of Linework as well as comics by many other contributors. The third issue will also be for sale at Quimby's and Chicago Comics within the next few weeks.

Here are a few pictures I took this morning:

So That's it. All caught up. Kevin and I are both graduated now, so this third issue is our last. We'll both be at CAKE on June 16th and 17th selling our own comics and Linework, but after that our editorship is done. It's been great putting these books together, hopefully someone will carry on and make more issues. I dunno...thanks for reading.

Linework #2

By the time the first issue came out, Andy and Madalyn were no longer students at Columbia, and Onsmith was just about to graduate. Kevin Budnik, Max Morris, and I asked Ivan if we could take over editing duties for the second issue. Here's the cover I drew:

Here are some more pictures taken from David Alvarado's blog:

It's a little hard to tell in this photo, but the cover is actually a
semitransparent vellum, and the staircase drawing is underneath that.

Linework #1

Linework started in Fall 2008 by Ivan Brunetti, and edited by then-students Andy Burkholder, Madalyn Merkey, and Onsmith. I didn't start at Columbia until Fall 2009, so I don't know who first proposed the idea of a student comic anthology. I think it was Ivan's idea and the three editors ran with it.

Here are a few pictures stolen from David Alvarado's site:

Back From The Dead

OK. So this blog was started in 2008 in preparation for the first issue of Linework. The old editors of the magazine created this blog and then graduated, and it's been dormant ever since. A lot's happened with Linework since then, but you would barely know it with a quick search on the internet, so I'll start from the beginning and try to cover everything that's happened over the last 3.5 years.
